Painting Away the Heat

The one thing that has been good about the heat here in Denver is that it has quite literally forced me into my studio. My studio is located in our basement, which is the only retreat we have from the heat of the main floor.

As Denver experiences record highs of over 100 degrees, our house doesn’t get any cooler than 74 degrees and most afternoons and evenings hovers around 86 degrees.

I have been adding several layers of paint to my large 36×24 canvas and enjoying how it has morphed and changed over the weekend. It definitely went through an ugly teenage phase for awhile, but now it is blooming into quite the painting.

But it is not done yet. Fortunately, we have plenty of hot weather here in Denver to keep me painting.
