Because Naive is full of wonderful artists and illustrators, and I’m still browsing through it at a snail’s pace, for the next several Show + Tell posts, I’ll be sharing artists from the book
Kate Sutton* is an illustsrator/maker based in the UK. Her simple line drawings and plush creatures come from a love of many things including trees, knitting, vintage fabric, france, reading, tea and led zeppelin. She has a variety of handmade items, all made with love, available at her etsy shop. To see more work and keep up with all her latest illustrations and projects, visit her blog.
This piece, as well as the opening piece, are a great combination of line drawing and cut and paste. Many elements are carried through her work: birds, swirly water, eye patch, tulip, etc. But each piece still has it’s own individual feel.
And this image has me thinking about that christmas card I have to start working on. Because Kate’s work makes me want to sit and draw for the afternoon with a nice hot beverage, maybe this will be just the motivation I need.
